Can students attend ClassXoom if they don't need course credit?
We encourage students to enroll in UNHS or UC Scout if they wish to receive course credit.
However, students can supplement their regular high school course with ClassXoom, without enrolling in a credit-bearing course.
Can students enroll who are taking a gap year?
Yes, students can enroll in ClassXoom after completing high school. UNHS also allows students to enroll in credit courses post-high school. We have found that colleges look favorably on gap year students who have been motivated to take courses before starting college - especially to fill in courses that they were unable to complete in high school.
Do you issue a transcript?
Transcripts are issued through UNHS or UC Scout and not through ClassXoom.
My student wants to take the class for credit through another online school. Can she still participate in ClassXoom?
Yes, students can participate in ClassXoom if they are taking the same course through another online program, but ClassXoom follows the outline of UNHS or UC Scout courses.
When do your classes start and end?
We run on a traditional semester system (September - December, January -May, and June-August).
How can additional courses help my student with college admission?
Students can benefit from additional course work in an advanced subject area, improve the overall student grade point average, and show interest in a course outside their home school's curriculum. For example, a prospective Business student may benefit from a high school course on Entrepreneurship. A student may wish to take an additional course in Film or Visual Arts not offered at their home school.
Can a student use ClassXoom for course recovery?
Yes, students are welcome to join ClassXoom to repeat a course. Please check with your home school regarding their policy for repeated courses taken through an online program.
Do I have to get permission from our home school to take an online course?
We encourage students to let their home school know that they are enrolling in additional courses, but it is not required. UNHS and UC Scout provide a transcript for completed coursework.
Are ten ClassXoom sessions enough to complete a course?
ClassXoom provides supplementary instruction but does not replace the work students must accomplish independently to earn course credit. Students can easily finish a course within the semester if they work consistently. Students earning course credit will complete assignments and quizes presented in their course portal for UNHS or UC Scout.
Does the course need to be completed within one semester?
Some students choose to take the full-year to complete a course. They are welcome to re-enroll for a second semester of ClassXoom. UC Scout courses must be completed within their semester deadline.
If my student needs additional support, can the instructor tutor my student?
Our instructions are available for individual tutoring through ClassXoom. Please contact us if you would like tutoring. An hourly fee is charged.
When are ClassXoom sessions held?
Sessions are generally held in the afternoons, early evening, or weekend mornings. Each instructor determines the schedule for their courses.
